Haven’t forgotten

By Patrick Hudson

Just a quick post to assure you that I haven’t forgotten about this blog.  I am working on a couple articles and ideas that will be posted in the future.  But I have been using Twitter more and more to do quick posts of information, or alert folks to articles that I think are... »

Stagecraft in the News: Theatre for the troops & Sandy Everett

By Patrick Hudson

Most of us wouldn’t put theatre and the army in the same sentence, unless discussing a USO show.  But Sandy Everett is one of many helping to present drama and musicals to our troops at foreign bases. Everett is a technical theater specialist, and she works full-time for the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation’s... »

FCC gives the official finger to theatres and live entertainment

With just under 2 hours to go…

By Patrick Hudson

In a bit less than 2 hours, Chicago finds out if it will be getting five rings, or just the finger.   But last night in the pouring rain, preparations were being made for the live feed of the final presentations, as well as voting. As was done... »

Original poster’s idiotic title and comments notwithstanding,... »

“New Media” ain’t all that new.

By Patrick Hudson

It seems every other year there is a new internet fad that everyone jumps on.  Currently it is Facebook and Twitter.  Theatres are told they must use these sites/services in order to find new audiences, and frequently jump on the bandwagon without knowing what to do when they get there.  The usual refrain is... »
