Nick Counter, former president of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, died Friday at the age of 69. Counter had led the AMPTP for 27 years before his retirement last March. Counter is probably best known (to readers of this blog) as the film and television companies’ representative during last year’s contentious writers strike.
A full run of a Denver show by a new theatre company had to be canceled after one of the crew members contracted swine flu. Celebrationworks production of “Kosher Lutherans” was to have been the new company’s second production.
IATSE Local 26 (Grand Rapids, MI) members will be wearing pink instead of black at Monday’s load-in and load out of Metallica, as part of their new “Stacks & Racks” campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer. They invite Metallica fans to do the same. Proceeds will benefit Gilda’s Club.
